SAM 600 Events

Here is a summary of events we commonly fly. It highlights the nature of each event, and some of the differences between them. For specifics details see our Competitions and Rules section.

We run different competitions for different classes of models and their motors. We base the classes on when the designs were first published or kitted according to the convention in the diagram below.

Old Timer Timeline

At our meetings, we generally fly a number of rounds, or heats, for each event. In each heat we award points for flight time and aggregate the score. Usually we count the best three flights out of four, but sometimes it's two out of three. Then if there is a tie we hold a fly-off, where the longest flight time wins.
